Island Roaming Trips

Dates for 2024:

5 Day Trip £645

20th May 2024 - Fully Booked

10th June 2024 - 2 places left

We have increased the length of our Roaming trip to 5 days in order to make the most of the islands and enable you to explore even more of them.

Have you ever wanted to go on a journey in a sea kayak?  Carrying everything you need with you, travelling with the wind and weather, and exploring what comes along?  Challenging yourself to live light?  Then join us.

Make new friends, see beautiful things and have fun doing it.  Just enjoy being guided or make the most of our experienced instructors and gain tuition as you go. The cost includes your guiding fee and kayaking kit (closed-cockpit kayak, spray deck, paddle, buoyancy aid, cag, helmet and long john wetsuit).

Wake to the sound of the birds before packing your tent up and paddling off for chance encounters with puffins, seals and razorbills.  Meet new people, and relive the day's adventures over a drink in the island pub, before perhaps walking up the hill to watch the sunset.  Then it's back to the tent for a well earned sleep.

You will arrive on St Mary's at about midday and catch the inter-island ferry to St Martin's where we will meet you on the quay.  After setting up camp we begin with an afternoon paddle to ease back into it and get you used to the kit.  Then its of to the pub to enjoy the view and some food for those that wish to join us.

The exact route for the week will be weather dependent and will be decided on a day to day basis. Wild camping is not allowed on the islands so we will be utilising the island campsites of St Martins, Bryher and St Agnes.  From here we have a variety of islands to explore, both habited and uninhabited.  The price has increased slightly as we now include the camping fees for the five nights.  Click the button below for more information on itinerary.

There are pubs on each island for those who don’t want to cook, and shops on route for supplies.  Make sure you book your ferry back for the Saturday after we finish otherwise you will miss the last day of kayaking.  Or you can stay on and enjoy seeing more of the islands by land.

Depending on the weather some of the crossings can present more of a challenge, therefore this trip is not suitable for complete beginners (beginners welcome on our St Martins trips).

You must be able to do the following:

  • Paddle a sea kayak

  • Paddle 5 days in a row for an average of 4-6 hours a day depending on the weather and the group

  • Carry your camping kit from the beach to the campsite which may be up to a 500m away

  • Travel light and be happy to sleep in a small tent

  • Have had some experience of paddling in either lumpy seas, windy conditions or moderate waters at times

The easiest way to find out if the trip is for you is to give us a call and chat it through with us.  If you spend a lot of time on the water doing other sports then your confidence and sea awareness may be good enough.

Costs not included in the price are:

  •  Travel to and from the Isles of Scilly (£160 ish)

  •  Inter-island ferry St Mary’s to St Martin's and back about £12

  •  Camping equipment and food for the week

More information on what to bring and how much room you have to carry it in will be provided on booking.

Please review our cancellation policy.
